Akua Brako-Raja

I have a diverse background, having spent my early childhood in Ghana, Germany, and the UK before settling permanently in the UK at the age of ten. For more than twenty-five years, I have mentored and coached individuals from primary school through to university, as well as throughout my career in finance. I have also served on the governing boards of several educational institutions, reflecting my long-standing commitment to education, development, and opportunity across all stages of life.

I began my career in finance at Fidelity International, managing a portfolio of clients and advisers based in Germany and Austria.

In 2005, I joined Pictet Asset Management, where I led institutional client relationships across multiple markets. Over the final eight years of my tenure, I headed the Global Client Group in London, a team responsible for servicing and managing institutional relationships across the globe.

I recently transitioned into a senior leadership role in institutional coverage at Lloyds Banking Group, where I work with asset managers and pension schemes to deliver strategic investment and risk solutions. Alongside this, I am completing an Executive MBA at King’s College London, with a focus on strategic leadership, innovation, and sustainable finance.

I am also developing EWOCAN, a growing social impact initiative designed to empower women through education, professional development, and mentorship. This work reflects my continued commitment to equity, empowerment, and purposeful change within and beyond the financial sector.

Outside of work, I am a keen runner, swimmer, and creative writer and, above all, a proud mother. I value staying active, embracing new experiences and approaching both professional and personal journeys with curiosity, resilience, and a deep commitment to growth.
