Safe Space

Safe Space

Inclusion in Finance exists to reshape the finance industry to achieve better outcomes and a core part of that is making sure poor behaviour doesn’t go unheard or unaddressed.

Safe Space gives everyone working in financial services a confidential way to share experiences of poor behaviour, so we can understand what’s happening across the industry and help drive real change. Here is an example of what we have done with the Safe Space information, our Chair gave evidence at the Treasury Select Committee on Sexism in the City. If you are a member, read our submission here.

What happens when you share your story?

All experiences shared through Safe Space remain confidential, and your identity is protected throughout.

Your information is only accessible to Helena Morrissey, Chair of Inclusion in Finance, with one exception: if you report something that may be criminal, we are required to pass this on to the police. If this applies to your situation, we will always speak with you first before taking any action.

Every incident reported is anonymised before being collated and grouped under key themes. We never identify individuals or firms in this process.

These anonymised, aggregated findings are presented to Inclusion in Finance’s Advisory Council, who agree on actions to address the issues raised, helping to create better, safer workplace cultures across the industry.

We only ask for contact details so that we can signpost you to relevant help and support, if you’d find that useful. Sharing them is entirely optional.

Real change starts with understanding what’s actually happening across the industry. By sharing your experience, however big or small it may feel, you help us build a clearer picture of where poor behaviour persists, so we can act on it.

Every report matters, whether or not you choose to share your contact details.

Have you experienced, witnessed, or may have caused such adverse behaviours with in the past five years? We are encouraging everyone to share any experiences – please get in touch via an online form or email us via a  private email here. These behaviours may be related to colleagues or be related to others e.g. clients or third parties who you have worked with.

Inclusion in Finance offers a safe space for you to share your story. All experiences will remain confidential, and your identity protected. The information will only be accessible to Helena Morrissey, Chair of Inclusion in Finance (unless you report something potentially criminal which we are required to pass along to the Police. However, if this is the case we will consult with you first.)

Any incidents reported will be anonymised before being collated and categorised under key themes. Aggregated findings which will remain anonymous (e.g. it will not be possible to identify any individuals or firms) will be presented to Inclusion in Finance’s Advisory Council who will agree actions to address problems in order to create better workplace cultures. Contact details are only sought to allow for any signposting to help and resources if required.
