In partnership with InterInvest, Inclusion in Finance hosted The Big South Asian Breakfast – Chai & Chat as part of South Asian Heritage Month.
The event brought together members of the South Asian community and allies for a morning of conversation, connection, and cultural celebration. Hosted at M&G Investment Management, it provided an opportunity to network, share experiences, and reflect on the richness and diversity of South Asian heritage.
Under the theme Breaking the Silence, Building Belonging, the event explored important topics that are often underrepresented or considered taboo within South Asian communities. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and personal stories, speakers encouraged open dialogue and highlighted the importance of creating more inclusive and supportive workplaces and communities.
The panel, featuring representatives from InterInvest, Outspoken Speakers, and Inclusion in Finance, discussed:
- Mental health, including stigma, access to support, and lived experiences.
- Neurodiversity, exploring greater understanding, inclusion, and practical support.
- Gender and sexual identity, challenging stereotypes and creating space for LGBTQ+ voices.
- Discrimination, examining generational perspectives, cultural expectations, and the experiences of both younger and older members of South Asian communities.
The event concluded with reflections on the discussions and the importance of continuing conversations that foster belonging, understanding, and inclusion.
