Parenting Neurodivergent Children

Date: 07/05/2026
Location: Virtual

Parenting a child whose needs and experiences don’t always fit society’s idea of “typical” can feel challenging at times – but you’re not alone. Many parents share feelings of uncertainty, self-doubt, or confusion about where to turn for support.

Neurodivergence is far more common than many people realise. It’s estimated that around 15–20% of people in the UK, roughly 1 in 7 are neurodivergent. This means there is a wide, growing community of families navigating similar experiences, learning, and supporting one another along the way. This one-hour webinar is designed to reassure, empower, and guide you, offering practical tools and perspectives you can carry forward with confidence.

In this 60-min webinar, we explored:

  • You are a capable, caring parent and your child is exactly who they’re meant to be.
  • Trust your instincts; you know your child better than anyone.
  • Be kind to yourself and make space for your own support and wellbeing.
  • It’s okay if others don’t always understand, focus on what works for your family.
  • Seek support early and continue to check in as your child grows.
  • Learn as much as you can – you are your child’s strongest advocate.
  • Speak up for your child’s needs with confidence.
  • Adapt approaches and create supportive structures that help your child thrive.
  • Celebrate progress, big and small – every step matters.
  • Connect with other families for shared understanding and encouragement.
  • Stay open to learning more about yourself along the journey.
  • Your child’s future is full of possibilities.
  • Additionally, we will have a panel of parents of neurodivergent children who will be discussing their experiences; followed by an opportunity to ask questions to Dr Mohring and the panel.
