The Cross Industry Menopause Café series

Dates:
  • 28 January 2026
  • 23 April 2026
  • 2 July 2026
Location: Railpen

Our aim is to develop a sense of community while providing valuable resources and support for individuals coping with the challenges of perimenopause/menopause in the workplace.

The menopause journey can be very isolating and, in the UK, recent estimates suggest that as many as 900,000 to 1 million women have quit their jobs due to symptoms associated with menopause. Other research indicates that approximately 60,000 women are currently unemployed for this reason.

Various research reports from recent years highlight the negative impact of menopause symptoms on women’s careers:

  • Fawcett Society (2022): A survey found that 1 in 10 women who worked during menopause left their jobs because of symptoms.
  • Simplyhealth (2023): Research found that 23% of women aged 40-60 considered resigning due to menopause symptoms, with 14% stating they planned to quit.
  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) (2023): Their study showed that 6% of women had left their jobs due to a lack of support for their menopause symptoms and 53% of respondents were able to think of a time when they were unable to go to work because of their symptoms.
  • Research cited by UK Parliament (2022): Cited a BUPA study that reported 900,000 women had left their jobs over an unspecified period because of menopausal symptoms.

These statistics underscore the importance of addressing menopause in the workplace, as a significant portion of the workforce is affected. There is a clear need for improved support systems and policies to help women manage their symptoms effectively while maintaining their careers.

We will be meeting quarterly in 2026, with some in-person (London) and others virtual or hybrid.

The first café took place on 28 January kindly hosted by DWS, in which we discussed sleep, nutrition, stress, and hormonal health. The second café took place virtually on 23 April 2026, and focused on HRT and alternative therapies.

Our next café will take place on Thursday 2 July 2026 , and will be kindly hosted by Railpen.

Upcoming Information Sessions

28th January 2026

The first Cross-Industry Menopause Café took place on Wednesday 28 January 2026, from 3pm–5pm, kindly hosted by DWS at Deutsche Bank. The event was also live streamed via Zoom to allow wider participation.

The Menopause Cafés are designed to offer clarity, understanding, and a safe space to ask the questions many people feel unable to raise elsewhere. This initiative aims to build a sense of community and provide valuable resources for those navigating menopause in the workplace. With up to one million women in the UK estimated to have left their jobs due to menopause symptoms, the need for open conversation and support has never been more important.

Our guest speaker, Zoe Jane Hindle, a functional wellness practitioner supporting women through perimenopause and menopause, guided attendees through the foundations that make a meaningful difference – including sleep, nutrition, stress, and hormone education.

The session included a Q&A, as well as networking opportunities for both in-person and virtual attendees. Those attending in person also received a favour bag, while virtual participants were able to connect through breakout rooms.

The Menopause Cafés will continue to meet quarterly throughout 2026, building on the strong engagement and discussion from this first session.

23rd April 2026

The second Menopause café will be held virtually on Zoom and will focus on HRT and alternative therapies.

3:00pm Introduction by Alexandra Frania, Columbia Threadneedle

3:10pm Main event with Dr Robyn, including Q&A
