We hosted an informative hybrid event with diversity leaders to explore the Disability Confident (DC) Scheme and practical ways for member firms to advance disability inclusion in the workplace.
We were delighted to welcome Tom Pursglove MP, Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work, and Beth Kume-Holland, CEO of Patchwork Hub, for a fireside chat. Together, they discussed the everyday experiences of disabled people at work, explained the Disability Confident Scheme, and explored its role within the government’s Disability Action Plan and wider strategy for creating a more inclusive and accessible society.
The event also featured a panel of Inclusion in Finance member firms that had signed up to the Disability Confident Scheme. Panellists shared their organisations’ journeys, the challenges they encountered, the benefits they had realised, and practical recommendations for firms beginning their own Disability Confident journey.
During the networking session, attendees had the opportunity to connect with service providers and Inclusion in Finance Community representatives, who shared guidance and support for organisations applying to and progressing through the Disability Confident Scheme.
The event included live captioning, and a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter was present throughout.
